Well here we are in 2021. What a wild ride 2020 was and the majority of the year was not pleasant for my family. 2020 started with the loss of one of the family dogs, followed by the loss of a close family friend due to cancer, followed by the loss of our second family dog. Of course everyone had a COVID birthday which meant a new way of celebrating with family and friends.

Enough about the last year. What are my goals for this new year with my new tummy? My first goal is to make monthly goals and not yearly goals. My first goal for this month is to hit my protein and water goal daily to make sure that I continue to lose weight. My second goal is to make sure that I am taking my vitamins daily to avoid any issues. My third goal is to hopefully get cleared for some exercise. Currently I am on the purée/ soft food stage of eating, meaning that I can only eat foods that are the consistency of baby food or are easily broken up with a fork or spoon. At this time I have been eating puréed tuna and avocado which does not look the best (it actually looks like baby food, peas to be exact.) I eat 2 ounces of the puréed mix with half an ounce of cheddar cheese mixed in, this gives me something to chew. I also enjoy eating egg salad since that is something that is easily mashed with a fork. At this stage I eat 2 puréed meals and drink 2 protein shakes a day along with my 64 ounces of water.

One question that I get all the time is “Don’t you miss eating?” Well of course I miss eating, but it is not like I feel hungry. I just miss eating the junk food that I was eating before. I miss pizza, sandwiches, cookies, pies and chips. All the food that caused me to gain the weight that I did. Since I am not able to eat now I make sure that Matt’s meals are super delicious. I have been watching a lot of cooking shows and making my version of the foods that I see on there. He seems to enjoy the meals that I have made so far.
